🧄 Favorite TS Product This Week: Seasoned Salt

If I had to pick a seasoning that lives on my counter, this would be it.
Seasoned Salt adds instant flavor to veggies, pasta, chicken, potatoes — you name it — without extra ingredients or effort. In fact, the other day, I added just a sprinkle on top of my daughter’s broccoli (which she HATES) and rice and she said to me, “Mom – what seasoning is this BC it is goooood!” #momwin

I used to call this the magical seasoning to help kids eat their green vegetables – I guess it still rings true!

This is one of those products that makes weeknight cooking feel doable and enjoyable. When dinner tastes good, it’s easier to gather everyone around the table… and that’s where the sharing really happens.

🍽️ Quick Tip: You’re not a short-order cook

My kids’ pediatrician once told my husband and I at a well-child visit when my first born was just starting eating meals at the table. He reminded us that we are not short-order cooks; rather, it is OK to have the expectation that he will eat what we eat, but just might be smaller portions. And then, right around this time too, we learned the NO-THANK YOU bite rule from a dear friend – but not the typical no-thank you bite. Check it out:

You take the same number of no-thank you bites as your age.

If you’re 2 years old, you take 2 no-thank you bites. If you’re 9 years old, you take 9 no-thank you bites. And if you’re 17, you take 17 no-thank you bites (no-joke, my 17 year old asked me to do this just last year!)

When we set the expectation from the start, it really supported us not being a short order cook AND helped our kids be more willing to try new foods.

And don’t worry – if they were still hungry, they could go make a sandwich (but mama wasn’t going to help!).

💬 Fun Moment from Cathy’s Life

Some of my favorite memories aren’t from “special occasions” — they’re from regular nights when dinner was quick but we sat down and ate together. Here is a post I wrote in 2019. Looks like Iwere spending more time in my car than my kitchen that night with dance, basketball, track, & play practice with 3 kids. AND we still found the time to eat together.
