October is flying by, and between Halloween preparations, busy schedules, and everything else life throws our way, it’s easy to feel like we’re constantly playing catch-up.

But this week in Cathy’s Kitchen, we’re talking about three things that can make life a little sweeter (and a whole lot easier!).

πŸ’‘ Kitchen Hack of the Week: Don’t Let Halloween Dinner Haunt You!

Halloween is supposed to be fun!

Costumes, trick-or-treating, spooky decorations, and way too much candy. πŸ‘»πŸ¬

But somewhere between getting everyone dressed, finding the missing costume accessory, and making sure the candy bags are ready, dinner can become an afterthought.

And nobody wants to hear, “What’s for dinner?!” when you’re already trying to get out the door.

So here’s your Halloween kitchen hack:

πŸŽƒ PLAN YOUR HALLOWEEN DINNER NOW!

You don’t need an elaborate menu. You just need a plan that works for your family.

Here are two fun ideas to get you started!

πŸ• Mummy Pizzas

Turn English muffins, mini pizza crusts, or French bread into spooky little pizzas!

  • Spread on Mama Mia Marinara Sauce.
  • Add mozzarella cheese in strips to look like mummy bandages.
  • Use sliced olives or pepperoni for eyes.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

They’re easy, fun, and perfect for getting the kids involved!

🍝 Witch Hair & Eyeballs

Give spaghetti and meatballs a Halloween makeover!

  • Cook your favorite spaghetti.
  • Toss it with your Mama Mia Marinara sauce.
  • Add meatballs for the eyeballs.
  • Serve with a little Parmesan for a finishing touch.

You could even use a little extra sauce to make the whole plate look deliciously spooky!

πŸ‘» The REAL Hack?

Decide what you’re making, check what you have, and get as much ready ahead of time as possible.

Make the meatballs ahead. Prep your pizza toppings. Set out your ingredients. Or choose a slow-cooker dinner that will be ready when you need it (do your meatballs in the slow-cooker!)

Your Halloween evening will feel a whole lot less chaotic when dinner is already handled.

Because the goal isn’t to create a Pinterest-perfect Halloween dinner.

It’s to feed your family, have some fun, and actually enjoy the night!

❀️ What’s Happening in Cathy’s Kitchen: Thank Goodness for Meal Prep!

Can we talk about the Sunday Scaries for a minute?

You know the feeling. It’s Sunday evening, the weekend is winding down, and suddenly your brain starts running through everything waiting for you on Monday.

This past weekend, I had two vendor events PLUS other commitments filling up my schedule.

It was a wonderful weekend, but by the time Sunday rolled around, I was ready to slow down and put my feet up and watch the Bills!

And you know what made the end of my weekend SO much better?

Having a home-cooked dinner ready to go! ❀️

Thanks to a little meal prep, I had Bacon Pepper Jam Meatloaf ready to enjoy with potatoes.

And those potatoes? I tossed them with some leftover prepared Howlin’ Horseradish Dip sampled at my Pop-up at The Creator’s Heart for an extra punch of flavor.

Talk about making leftovers work for you!

Instead of scrambling to figure out dinner, ordering takeout, or staring into the refrigerator hoping a meal would magically appear, I could simply enjoy a delicious dinner at home.

And honestly? That made Monday feel a little less intimidating, too.

Here’s your reminder from my kitchen to yours:

Meal prep isn’t just about saving time. It’s about giving yourself a little breathing room.

It’s knowing that when life gets busy, you have a plan.

It’s having a home-cooked meal waiting when you’re tired.

And it’s ending a hectic weekend feeling grateful instead of stressed about the week ahead.

You don’t have to prep an entire week’s worth of meals to make a difference.

Even having one or two dinners ready can change the way your week feels.

So if you’ve been thinking about trying meal prep, consider this your little nudge!

And if you’d like some ideas for making meal prep work for your family, I’d love to help you find a starting point.

Because around here, we’re all about making life easierβ€”one delicious meal at a time. ❀️

Happy Cooking and Go Bills!
